Like the confusing noisy traffic in Bangkok, Pa was feeling trapped and useless... unable to do much about anything.
Two other senior vets have seen Nigel and both are optimistic for a complete recovery in a month or two. Right now, he would need to be fed with a syringe. A once happy dog has been reduced to grovelling.
Its always easy to give advise when you are not involved... but when your own dog is so badly injured, you sometimes wonder what else you can do to exert justice. Not a very honorable thought... but sometimes, it possesses you.
The husky owner isn't from a very rich background, and he doesn't stay on private property... you know what that means... any complains would immediately have his dog confiscated. The medical bills would likely take several months to recover has his own parent would probably have difficulty in this economic crisis.
Its really like you have had your dog badly injured and yet still have to bend over and take it. As advocates of tolerance, our own lessons can be a bitter pill to swallow.

hey thanks for the note. reinforcement is a daily thing in my job w human kids. Haha. I'd b needing your advice regularly as I'm super outa touch w dogs. Haha.
Anyway, your adventures w Bear, Bruno and the others along the way are truly inspirational. Hope Nigel recovers soon. Cheers!
Hi Stan...
Kids and dogs... quite similar if you ask me... I personally prefer dogs... they love you and never talk back.
Bwahahaha...
I hear what you're saying about the sometimes bitter pill of tolerance. My own belief is that Gandhi ji was 100% correct when he said "An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind".
But at the same time, if it was Tonka that had his jaw half torn off by my neighbors' husky I can tell you for a fact it would be tough for me to remain mindful of that.
I'm really glad Bruno stopped at warning off the Golden. You're absolutely right that the Rottie would be the one to get the blame just by virtue of being a Rottie. Sounds like you've got a great dog there. I'm a huge fan of Rotts, but my living situation and lifestyle aren't conducive to me having one. They're a working breed that needs a job to do, and I just don't have one to offer.
(Lesson 1: When adopting or acquiring a dog, know what you're getting into beforehand!
Lesson 2: Never forget Lesson 1.)
I hope Nigel makes a full and speedy recovery. I know what it's like to have a sick/injured dog, though I've never had one hurt this badly. But it sounds like Nigel's in good hands. Best to all of you!
We are still praying for Nigel daily.
